Over the last few years, a trend has developed towards reviving old technologies as well as old fashion styles. With this in mind, we photographed letterpress experts Cupiss in Diss, south Norfolk, who have been operating for four generations and are becoming increasingly popular for products such as wedding invitations, brochures and books intended for short print runs.

Our aim was to showcase the skill and the care of those involved at Cupiss, as well as a strong hint of the atmosphere of the workplace. The employees wore the casual clothing that they would normally wear and we photographed them working together as well as alone, showing how they combine their team ethic with their individual expertise to produce their eye-catching bespoke materials. We also photographed them taking a break and chatting with each other to capture a sense of their working relationships.

All told, with this shoot we created a well-rounded portrait of this small, traditional working environment, and successfully conveyed a flavour of its character and its uniqueness.
